Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world shared its support for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
