President Trump has stated he is raising tariffs on products imported from Canada after the province of the Ontario government ran an anti-tariff ad featuring ex-President Ronald Reagan.

In a online update on Saturday, the President labeled the commercial a "deception" and condemned Canadian officials for not pulling it prior to the baseball championship.

"Due to their significant falsification of the reality, and hostile act, I am hiking the Tariff on Canada by ten percent over and above what they are paying now," he wrote.

After Donald Trump on last Thursday withdrew from commercial discussions with Canadian officials, the Ontario's leader stated he would pull the advert.

The Province Reaction

Ontario Premier the Premier said on Friday that he would halt his region's anti-tariff commercial series in the United States, telling reporters that he decided after consultations with PM the Canadian PM "in order that commercial discussions can restart".

He also said it would remain broadcast over the weekend, featuring matches for the MLB finals, which includes the Blue Jays against the LA team.

Commercial Background

The Canadian nation is the sole Group of Seven state that has not secured a deal with the United States since Donald Trump started attempting to impose high duties on goods from primary trading partners.

The United States has earlier enforced a 35% levy on each Canada's products - though many are excluded under an present free trade agreement. It has also imposed sector-specific taxes on Canada's products, featuring a 50 percent duty on steel and aluminum and twenty-five percent on vehicles.

In his message, sent while he was flying to Southeast Asia, Donald Trump seemed to say he was imposing 10 percentage points to the existing tariffs.

75% of Canadian exported goods are sold to the America, and Ontario is home to the majority of Canada's vehicle industry.

Ronald Reagan Ad Details

The commercial, which was sponsored by the Ontario authorities, quotes former US President Reagan, a Republican and figure of conservative values, stating duties "hurt every American".

The commercial uses clips from a 1987-era national radio address that addressed foreign trade.

The Ronald Reagan Foundation, which is charged with protecting the former president's legacy, had criticised the advert for using "edited" recordings and said it distorted Reagan's 1987 remarks. It also said the Ontario government had not requested consent to use it.

Ongoing Disputes

In his update on his platform on Saturday, Trump said that the advert should have been removed earlier.

"The Commercial was to be removed AT ONCE, but they allowed it to air yesterday during the baseball championship, realizing that it was a DECEPTION," he posted, while traveling to Asia.

the Premier had before pledged to run the Ronald Reagan advertisement in each Republican region in the US.

The two Trump and Carney will be participating in the Association of Southeast Asian Nation in the Malaysian nation, but Trump advised journalists accompanying him on the presidential plane that he does not have any "desire" of conferring with his Canadian counterpart during the trip.

In his update, Trump further alleged the Canadian government of attempting to influence an upcoming American high court legal case which could halt his entire tax system.

The lawsuit, to be heard by the Supreme Court next month, will determine whether the tariffs are constitutional.

On Thursday, the President also criticized, saying that the advert was created to "meddle" with "THE MOST IMPORTANT CASE EVER"

Baseball Championship Association

The advertisement is not the only way that the region – home of the Blue Jays – is using the World Series as a platform to condemn the President's duties.

In a video published on last Friday, Doug Ford and Governor the Governor playfully agreed on stakes about which team would succeed in the finals.

The two leaders repeatedly teased about duties in the video, with Ford pledging to provide the Governor a tin of Canadian syrup if the LA Dodgers triumph.

"The duty might set me back a few extra bucks at the border currently, but it'll be acceptable," he stated.

In reply, Newsom suggested Doug Ford to resume enabling American-produced alcohol to be marketed in regional alcohol shops, and pledged to provide "our top-quality grape drink" if the Toronto team succeed.

They ended their exchange both saying: "Here's to a fantastic baseball championship, and a duty-free friendship between the region and CA."
