Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
