It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
